Scrumptious traditional Cretan breadsticks, rich in seeds and subtly flavoured with cognac.
Kritsinia, or breadsticks, are traditional Cretan delicacies that can be enjoyed as a snack,to accompany a cup of coffee, or added to delicious salads to add elegance, texture and nutrition. A distant cousin of Italian breadsticks, kritsinia are denser, richer in ingredients and completely addictive. They are traditionally covered with sunflower and sesame seeds but, all over Crete, they are often found covered with all kinds of seeds and grains and the addition of a touch of alcohol gives them a deep and subtle flavor. Since our first Cretan trip, we have fallen in love with these seed-rich little gems and the creations of this particular craftsman.
The artisans of Ntourountous are found in southern Crete and have inherited traditional recipes from their grandmother, Anna. Everything is handmade, according to traditional recipes, and most of the products are organic. They have also received the award of "Best Greek producer" in 2020 by the BGFA institute.
