Forget everything you know about tahini, or sesame paste. This Cretan tahini is a delicacy that is best enjoyed with a big spoon plunged directly into the jar. The sweetness of the grape molasses is perfectly balanced with the creamy sesame and crunchy hazelnuts. Absolutely scrumptious. Also superb in vinaigrettes (for us it is miso, tahini & a little water) or all the usual sauces and recipes using tahini.

We discovered this charming artisan couple during a recent holiday in beautiful Crete, on a small road lost among olive groves. On their domain, they grow vines which produce a beautiful sweet red grape and transform it into grape must, or grape molasses. This naturally sweet and nutrient-rich product replaces honey in all traditional recipes and their creations are naturally vegan. A real jewel.
